I know exactly where that is, Mark. My in-laws live off of Fairfax and the 178.

Myself, I was raised in the southwest off of Ming Ave. & Ashe Rd.

Played many a gigs at the pizza joint off of 19th and Chester and the Mint further up the road.

Scotland? Are you able to help me out here?

Anyone else in the UK willing or able to help?

I phoned two more stores yesterday - the best I could find was a store that is "expecting" them in between August 17th - 27th. They wanted me to pay up front (in FULL!) to reserve one, but couldn't guarantee that they would actually receive their "stocks" (they have been allocated TWO) by the dates indicated.

It is VERY frustrating being a guitar buyer in Britain - how many sales must Fender be missing because they can't get the guitars over to the UK?....

Forgive my total ignorance on the subject, but is it too expensive to order from the US? How much would it cost one of us to ship one to you?

Jellecaster, I believe that the cost of shipping a guitar from the USA is not far short of $100 (I may be wrong). Then, when it arrives, HM Customs & Excise demand that I pay import duties, and to top it all off, a further 17.5% in Value Added Tax. In all honesty, that would probably make the cost prohibitive.

But please accept my sincere thanks for at least trying to help out a fellow TDPRIer - I'm humbled that someone from so far away would show such kindness.

I can only hope that my fellow TDPRIers from the UK have noted your much appreciated offer to help. There truely IS a special bond between most of the UK and the USA, and a hand of friendship that is sadly often not extended between the countries that make up the once Great Britain....

No problem - let me know if you change your mind. I can't help but think that the dollar is so weak that it still might be worth it.

That said, I knew that you folks got royally hosed on taxes, but I guess I never appreciated how much! I'll stop complaining about US taxes and $4.00 gas now!

Random question about these CV Squiers

Does anybody know if perhaps these little bombers might be offered in other colors? You know sonic blue, sea foam green, fiesta red etc. I think a two tone sunburst might be too hard but then again maybe not.

Comments?

Jellecaster is there a reason you dont wanna add your Classic Vibe serial to the list? You have posted pics of your serial number so its not like you dont wanna show the serial #. I do know it but didnt wanna add it without your permission.

No biggie just wondering.

What if someone popped off the neck. Then took off the pg stickers and then rubbed it up with some newpaper ink and dirtied it up and then stuck some stickers on it and send it as a used item? Wouldn't that then negate the taxes?

I'm guessing that means that your neck was made, or the serial number was allocated for it, in 2007.

We're always seeing serial numbers that seem to "carry over" from the previous year, and in fact Fender's info on serial numbers reflects that "carry over". I hadn't noticed that happening on a model that was introduced mid-year, but then I haven't been studying Tele trivia for that long.

It wouldn't be hard to imagine that they started developing this model, or at least some parts like necks that became used for it, back in 2007.

I've shipped many a guitar to the UK on eBay sales.
Every one of them had $25.00 as the value on the paperwork but insured for the real amount. A 1973 SG Standard is somewhere there right now with a happy Brit. Shipped via USPS.
If the neck were to come off, the package could be salvaged guitar parts and the value of $10.00 USD.....

Maybe Tadeo Gomez came back as a Chinese Fender factory worker cause mine also has that nice Tadeo taper.

Mine is the best constructed Tele Ive ever owned and also had the best factory setup of any Fender Ive ever owned.

I corrected sequence and usernames, and added one that was forgotten. It helps maintain the list when adding one to remove the quotes and make the list simply part of your own post. Otherwise the next person to add can't copy your updated list easily.

Some folks may be reluctant to post their serial number. Maybe some would be willing to add theirs to the count but with some of the rightmost digits blanked out, e.g. CGS0801007** or CGS080100***.

That wouldn't be any fun. I'm interested to see if anyone has the next-door neighbor to Mark or me, or anyone else on the list, for that matter. If we were talking high-dollar guitars here, I can maybe see that from an e-bay fraud standpoint, but I think that'd be an entirely different ballpark in terms of desirability.

I'm a serial # nerd. SRV had serial number 4 and 5 Vibroverb amps.

This weekend on a car auction on TV I saw them sell serial #1 55 Chevy serial #1 56 Chevy and serial #1 57 Chevy Bel Airs all restored to perfect mint condition how cool is that?

could be, but whats strange is I ordered mine well AFTER most of you had already received yours... but that explanation does make most sense.

Since there is no case that comes with the CV, it would be best to take the neck off and ship in a smaller, less conspicuous sized box.
The box that it ships in is really not good for international shipping but can be used in a double box shipping and still make the size restriction to the UK. The nech would have to come off for Australia due to size restrictions.
So add a guitar box for $12.00 and some peanuts for another $5.00.
USPS Priority Mail International is the carrier. Mine came via UPS and they charged for 13 pounds. With the extra box and foam add 2 pounds. 15 pounds to the UK is $67.50. Add insurance for $300.00 for $5.25.
Looks like $89.75 to ship. The documentation doesn't cost extra if I remember correctly.

I gotta toss this out, does anybody else have nickle hardware on theirs?
Just to help, chrome has a blue tint and nickle has a yellow tint.

I'm not complaining, I like like nickle better than chrome anyway.
In fact, I've pretty much always wanted a Tele with nickle hardware and it seemed that the main parts I was finding were chrome.

It kind of suprised me!
It wasn't till I was going to change the knobs to a set of 50s dome type and I set a dome knob next to the stock knob on the plate, for comparison and it smacked me, that I already had what I had been trying to do with my other Teles!
I even checked the Squier website and it is stated as having chrome!

Needless to say, stock knobs stay and I'm even more pleased.

By the way, nickle ages nicer than chrome. IMO
