Well, I was gonna leave her stock, but the bug got the best of me! I ordered one of Don Mare's Stangray triple taps and am going Esquire style! Pics and a pup review when it happens!

hey everyone! This is kind of unrelated and related at the same time but I thought what better place to ask a squier classic vibe tele question than at the owner's club? Anyway, there is a guy who is wanting to trade me his partscaster esquire with a body and I'm guessing electronics and hardware from a CVT (the white finish with black guard/no front pup) with a baja tele neck and a bob urban pup in the bridge position. I'm offering up my Epiphone wildkat in sunrise orange with generally sells on ebay anywhere between 4 and 6 hundred depending on condition. Mine's in pretty good shape with an upgraded bridge and non original hard shell case so I'd value it no lower than $500. I guess the bottom line question here is do you guys think that a CVT body with a bob urban pup and baja tele neck is worth something in the neighborhood of $500? Thanks for your time and suggestions!

Well she finally arrived today, my new CV50. Back in the 90's i saved my money from my summer jobs to buy my very first guitar, a Squier Strat mini. That thing was terrible and i swore i'd never buy another Squier again. But after all the good things i heard about the CV50 i decided to give her a shot, and boy is it all true.
This is by far one of the nicest playing, nicest feeling guitars i've ever encountered. The action was great out of the box, the finish is flawless, the neck feels incredible, the frets ends are perfectly smooth, not a hint of buzz anywhere on the neck (unfortunately i can't say that for my blacktop or my American Special), the intonation was spot on out of the box (no exaggeration, it was about as perfect as can be for a 3 saddle bridge, 1 or 2 cents off, but always in the green). And the sound just blew me away. This is the first time i can honestly say i LOVE the sound in all 3 positions. I had been planning on changing the pickups, but after hearing it, i'm in no hurry to do so. and while the pots and switch are perfectly fine for now, i probably will change those out for CTS pots and an original 3way fender switch i have laying around. Or i might go to a 4-way. one of the things that impresses me the most is how well it's stayed in tune. i've only played it for about an hour, but i know it was in transit with the courier over night, and it was a chilly night here in alberta last night. Despite that, after the initial tuning, and playing for a while, with a lot of bends, it stayed in tune! i had to make a minor adjustment on the low e once, but other than that it was fine. I have to tune my others several times every time i play if i do any bending at all. Bottom line: this guitar is incredible. if anyone out there has been hesitating just because it's a Squier, don't! it made a believer out of me. Anyways, sorry for going off like that, but i'm in love! now i just have to go out and buy another strap and stand. Have a great day everyone! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

OK I've had mine for almost 4 years and is my #1 player. This weekend I replaced the output jack (I replaced the socket with electrosocket a while ago but did not do the jack), replaced the saddles (again) this time with steel compensated from WD Music, and replaced the bridge pickup that I broke with a mallet. oops. Still sounds great, Beat to hell. The neck pickup has string indentations from the mallet and the frets are showing wear. The tuners are still great, as are the original electronics.
I've only replaced parts out of need. The only thing left that is original is the neck (nut/tuners), neck pickup, pickguard, and electronics. I did replace the bridge with a CV tele alnico3 pickup though cause i like it so much. |

Although I put on a Glendale Bridge, Bill Cook Warmoth neck, and a bakelite guard too Although I actually just put the stock Squire neck back on it -- I like it.

I was in Dunfermline with Mrs Negative yesterday and she asked if there was anywhere I'd like to go. I said I'd like to check.out Kenny's Music. I tried out a Squier "Jazzmaster" Telecaster which was OK but wasn't quite as well finished, good sounding or nice to play as this. I should stop going to music shops with my wife, she just encourages me to buy things...

... There's a couple of (very minor) things that aren't perfect - the pickguard is far too thick (easily replaced) and the pickup switch doesn't feel as positive as I'd like (I'll put up with it for now).
And I might swap the neck with my partscaster. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the CV's neck, I just can't leave things alone!

Back to TDPRI after an extended bass-playing engagement, but my new lefty Squier CV BSB Tele arrived yesterday and I couldn't be more impressed. for those of you who haven't held one of these yet, it's true what you've heard about them. Smoothest fretwork from a lower-level guitar ever, wonderful tone at all three pickup points, and just a general feeling that this is a quality instrument, not just some cheap knockoff. Best $340 I ever spent. Sign me up!

Hey guys, checking in. Has anyone done either of (hopefully both) of these appearance mods to their CV in BSB?
Change the pickguard to a black, non-beveled 5 hole? Lightly scuffed the finish to make it more of a semigloss/satin finish? I would LOVE to see pics |
