You can't add more numbers without deleting some old ones. We should run two lists -- pick a cut-off point for the earlier numbers.

Add me to the list! Just picked up a used one on the cheap! Been wanting one for some time, and this one fell into my lap! Damn fine guitar, and lives up to what everyone on here says. Not sure if I will mod it at all, but a Charlie Christian sure would look and sound good in the neck position. Sound great, plays great, looks great for few bucks, a real winner! Gonna gig it soon!

Which one did you get, BSB or VB? How cheap?

I'm just chiming in again to say that I gig regularly with a variety of Telecasters, including an American Vintage '62 Reissue, a Fender Japan TL52-US Blackguard with US OV pickups and other high-end non-Fender instruments. My VB Squier CV50, completely stock, comfortably holds its own in this company. It has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of and is well up to professional use. A remarkable little guitar.

I couldn't agree more, I'm primarily a bass player but started to learn guitar in the last 6 months. I've had more than my fair share of guitars and basses over the years, MIJ, MIM, MIA, Custom Shop etc..

The build, fit, finish and setup are as good as anything I've owned. I'd even go as far as to say the QC and out of the box setup beats them all. I also have a MIM Esquire and the CVC beats the MIM hands down in terms of build quality. The CVC was perfect from the off whereas the MIM had a gappy neck pocket, misaligned bridge and needed a pro setup to make it playable, even then I replaced the pickup for a broadcaster as the standard pup just didn't have much life to it. This isn't even a standard MIM but one of the higher end Classic 50's models.

All I've done to my CVC is replace the bridge with a genuine Fender bridge with brass saddles. That was for purely aesthetic reasons and didn't actually 'need' changing, i just like the look of brass. The pickups are great as they are so will stay stock.

I'm proud to play Squire's and love sharing my passion for them with my muso friends who are all shocked and surprised at how well my CVC and VM Jag bass both play and sound. Several of them have gone out and bought their own Squier's after having a play on mine.

which bridge did you install on the cvc? Was it an easy fit and replacement or did you need to put a new holes in the body?
Thinking about esquiring mine. :)

It was just the standard Fender pat pend brass saddle bridge. Any vintage three saddle bridge will just be a straight forward swap, all the holes will align so there's no need for drilling. It's a very simple 5 minute swap, all you need is a screwdriver and you're good to go.

I used the one at the top of this page:

http://www.axesrus.com/axeteleh.htm

It's not an advert for the company by the way as I didn't buy it from them, it's just the first link I found

Fair enough, but it's worth pointing out that the firm, run by a nice couple called Tony and Jackie, is a very good supplier of all kinds of guitar-related stuff. I have no connection with the company other than as a very satisfied customer, but I've dealt with them on numerous occasions and if you're in the UK or elsewhere in the EU I can recommend them highly.

What is the stock VB bridge made of?

I'm not sure but I know there's one model of CV tele's that does come with brass saddles as standard, not sure if that's the VB though.

My Vintage Blonde CV-50 has a 'steel' bridge and 3 brass barrel saddles with 2 grooves per for the strings....[And a magnet will stick to it.] Vintage ash tray style. Mine is a 2010.

The VB seems to have a nickel-plated pressed steel bridge plate with grooved brass saddles, as plymman suggests.

I couldn't figure out how this would be an improvement over the stock CVC bridge (if it was a VB.) I noticed after I had tuned the barrels on my VB to the string gauges I use (standard D'Addario starting with a 10) that the barrels line up straight.

The only thing I changed on my VB was the pickups. I loved the tone but couldn't abide the hum, so I got Bill&Becky L200s.

Purely for looks alone, I like the brass saddles on sunburst, seeing as they already use them on the CV 50's i think it's a shame the saddles on the CVC aren't brass as standard

Is it the difference of trying to recreate the 60s look for theCVC vs a 50s look for the CV50?

I got the VB, for 170$

I may do some experimenting, thinking about a minibucker under an esquire pickguard! I don't want to get really crazy, but a Barden type bridge might be something I do later on. May do the 4 way thing.

If I can find another one that cheap I may mod out that one. I am so freakin impressed with this plank!

Eye of the beholder and all that, but what they seem to have done is to try and re-create the general look of the early '60s bound-edge Custom, which had threaded steel saddles. I don't own a CVC, but I do have sort of the "real thing" in the form of an American Vintage '62 Reissue. That has the spiral-grooved steel saddles and they don't 'alf impart a "snap" or "pop" (but no crackle!) to the picking response. Not for everyone - not even me in some circumstances, but in those cases I'll use another guitar with brass saddles for the warmer, smoother tone they tend to provide. Horses for courses.

Dang, that's pretty good! I got mine for $200 on Craig's List. It was for all intents and purposes a new guitar.

Well I just bought a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster BSB Left handed. I had a cheap SX Tele which was good for only $120, but the Classic Vibe is leaps and bounds ahead of the SX. I love the sound of it unplugged, it just rings and rings. S/N # CGS1103650.
