...and yes he does play it, often.
Bill the owner and player and my dad pick'n and grin'n on my Larrivee Parlor. I love jammin' with them. Mills Brothers, Les Paul, Chet, Lenny Breau, Hank Garland (Velvet Guitar, one of my faves), etc. You can just see the front edge of the Tweed Princeton.

Update on Punksquire
I traded a SD Antiquity II on fleabay recently and therefore the new control plate was still waiting I decided to do the modifications tonite. First, I replaced the Quarter Pounder by the Antiquity II, which makes it more authentic. As Strummer's Tele was originally from '66, I thought a 60s replica pup would fit quite well. And the control plate was a must have, after removing the switch an tone pot. I aged it a little with muriatic acid and gave it the matte wear with Scotch Brite. It matches pretty well the bridge, now.
For the sound I'm really impressed. I had to boost the output level with a Cool Cat Overdrive, first. Chords are still full but more biting and it gets a really aggressive touch. Perfect for my music!

The pin'ee'squire body that My kid was gonna do was abandoned so I decided to put the finish on. Here's a pic of it hangin' waiting for the 3 coat of minwax wood finish.
![]() It will end up with black hardware and a Bill Lawrence L290Tl pickup heres a pic of that. ![]() there isn't a neck for it right now. I can't afford one right now either. When I can I will put her together and post pic's

I have just finally finished my first build...and it's an esquire...so do I get to join the club???
![]() Since I have seen the Esquire's here on this forum, I have wanted one badly. I've lusted over the simplicity, the tone and the attitude of these guitars. Something always gets in the way of me buying one so I decided to make my own. There is no routing under the pickguard so this is a devoted Esquire, made from 30+ year old pine from an old shelf with just my basic hand tools.

Natural beaten up Esquire
Before I used my Punksquire on gigs and for rehearsal, I worked often and hard on my MIM Esquire. After about 6 months of use I found that the 5 hole guard was fitted not even.
At some points there was a gap of about half an millimeter between body and guard. Therefore I decided to exchange it with an 8 hole 3 ply from GF. I've had a SD Jerry Donahue from a friend which I liked more than the stock pup. So I put it in as well. This setup was used for about 2 years for shredding like hell - the dings on the body are battle scars from this times. Beginning on this year I decided to re-finish the body and started to sand it slightly. But using it frequently I found no time to do the work on it and today, it still looks that scratched and matte way. The only mark on the whole body which is not done by nature is the arm wear. I sanded it because the edge was rough from the dings and it was quite uncomfortable that way...

Hi mijstrat72,
I see your concerns about a volume control only solution. I have to admit that our band plays preferably our own songs but sometimes as well covers from Nerf Herder and Social Distortion. The different rhythm tonality is rebuilt by Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrives. I have 3 of them in a chain with different gain and tone settings. The only thing to do between songs or even within a song is to switch between the Cool Cats. For me one pot only is not only a cosmetic factor - one pickup and one knob - but also simplifying my life. I have the exact tone and overdrive presets on the pedals and one kick gives me just the sound I figured out during rehearsals. I have maybe to confess that I'm really not a guitar god, more an average skilled strummer... cu gatego

Count me in
I haven't played my Esquire munch in the last two years, and now it's been my new favorite for the past two days!
![]() It's a Home brew with one of my hand tooled leather pickguards, Bill Lawrence L-290TL-E pickup and cocked wah tone in the forward position instead of the heavy bass sound.

Woo Hoo! Got my Esquire back up and running! Thanks to a little nudge I got from a fellow member, I finally upgraded to compensated brass saddles, which I think made the most difference, and a Seymour Duncan Broadcaster pup. It just killed in practice yesterday, and the setup is getting tweaked right now. I'll post some more pics soon, and maybe even a video. Its back in the #1 spot!
