It says you have 8 pictures in your gallery... are those the ones you are referring to?

Yes and no... It says I have 8, but if you go to my gallery there's only 4. Also I tried to upload around 7-8 more yesterday. It says my upload was successful but they must be wondering around out there in that mysterious cyberspace.

Thanks for replying.

I don't know ..

But I found this help note
Quote:
Don't make the mistake of just uploading photos to your Member's Gallery. Instead, upload your photos to the category that applies. When you do, all of your photos will ALSO show up in your Member's Gallery automatically.

If you upload only to your member's gallery that is the only place those photos will be found.
I don't know what that means but when I tried to view your "8" pictures. I only saw 4 photos. Sorry.

There are just too many things that could be the problem. So, there is no way I can answer your question. Can you give me some more detailed information to go on? What format were the files? How many did you attempt to upload at the same time. What was the size in pixels of each photo? What was the byte count for the TOTAL of all the photos you attempted to upload at one time? And where exactly did you attempt to upload them to?

I understand you are not completely computer savvy, but as you see there are hundreds of things that could be the cause of your situation.

As far as "changing the size" of the photos you need to edit them in a photo editing application.

Do some searching here and on Google. All your answers are out there but it may require you to do some looking on your own.

Ok, I did some looking in the database and the problem is that you uploaded the same photos multiple times with descriptions like "What does this do?"

The system is set up to not show duplicate photos. Especially those with the same name and description.

I guess you were just testing things out by uploading duplicates. Is that correct?

I might put my own question in here as well. I can't upload pictures period. It just goes into some kind of error.

And I can't change my avatar either, I have tried to shrink the picture I want about a 100 times both in pixels and in KB's. It says that its too big:S
Any ideas?

Yes, I can help there -- don't make the photos so big.

The limit on uploads is 300K in total per upload (this is to the Gallery). If you're uploading one photo make it below 300k. If you are uploading 4 photos make them small enough to total less than 300k combined.

Size them 1000 or even 800 pixels wide/high and save them as 50% Jpegs and they'll be great quality and give you no problems.

For Avatars the can be no larger than 80 px by 80 px and must be smaller than 19.5k in bytes. It says this in the Avatar Upload instructions on the Avatar Upload page.

Yes Sir,that's what I was doing. O.K. I'll try and remember step by step.

1 Loaded the pictures on my comp. from digital cam. Loaded them into my pictures

2 Went to the Gallery on this site, I tried to load pictures into the correct fields, ie. band pictures etc.

3 When the page for uploading pictures comes up I fill in all the fields and hit the browse button.

4 Then I go to my pictures and click on the picture I want to upload, it then fills in the address on the line besides the browse button. Something like c drive my documents etc.

5 I click upload, it works for a few seconds and then it gave me an upload succesful message.

6 The pictures are no where to be found, in any gallery and I tried searching under several keywords. Words I used on the loading page. Still nothing?

P.S. The 4 that show up in my gallery, I remember changing the pixel size but I don't remember how I did it?

Thanks
Phillip

I am afraid that I ,too, am a computer dimwit. Unfortunately, it is as if you are speaking another language. I appreciate it must be frustrating, but I am none the wiser.

I was under the impression that pics would automatically be resized to fit? However, when i tried to upload, i was told my pic was 1000 and something by 800 and something, and needed to be 800 by 640. And yet you mention above they can be 1000 or even 800 pixels wide/high and save as 50%jpegs.

I took my original jpeg from the digital camera, 2MB, reduced it on photoshop as best I could, quality 3, but could only get it dowwn to about 200k or so? What do i need to do?

The software here at the TDPRI is good but it's not going to edit photos for you. One of the things you MUST do if you own a digital camera is figure out a way to edit your photos. The camera makes HUGE photos. You want it to for when you want to print high quality prints. But those huge photos are not suitable for all uses like posting on this forum or even for emailing.

I understand that you don't know a lot about computers and such, but I'm afraid that I can't teach you. You'll have to learn on your own and once you learn THEN you can post your photos here.

Virtually every camera comes with a photo editing program. And there are many available free online.

It's up to you to stop saying "I'm really a noob at these things" and dig in and teach yourself to not be a "noob." Really, it's not hard and there are zillions of options for how to do this.

To be successful at uploading photos here you need to learn how to resize your photos. You'll need to learn some about various photo formats and you'll need to learn about pixels and resolution and the like. And be able to tell how many bytes the image file is in total.

Good Luck. I know you can do it if you just put some effort in it. It's easier than playing a Telecaster. I can promise you that.

In photoshop simply resize the original photo before you make a jpeg. Make it 800 pixels wide or less and make it 72 dpi. Then save it as a Jpeg around "5" and it will look good and be around 50,000 bytes.
