Logging Out on it's own?

Why do I keep getting logged out?

I go to reply to a post and either I'm logged in or I do log in, then I spend time writing my post and hit the "Submit Reply" button and the next page I get is the log in/register page. So I log back in then the next thing I get is reply to thread page that's blank. Everything I just spent the last 30 minutes typing out is gone.

WHY WHY WHY

Most likely, a classic case of corrupted browser cookies for the website. Delete all TDPRI cookies and your problem will go away.

Also, there is a time limit on your session. If you log in to the page and don't do anything for 30 minutes it will end your session. Writing in the message box is considered doing nothing, because the system doesn't know what you are doing until you submit or preview the post.

But, from the sound of it, you're having cookie problems, not time out problems.

WHY WHY WHY?
I'm not sure why cookies get corrupted every once and a while. It just happens.

Thanks Paul,
I think it was the time limit, I type slow and also had to go outside and tend to my horses before I finished my reply.
Next time I'll try to type everything in less than 30 minutes.

Is there any way to disable the time limit?

I've pretty much given up on replying to post because after spend all this time typing then I go to hit the "Submit Reply" and just get the "You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page."
I'm slow-my computer is sloow -my connection is slooow and most of the time when I go on line I'm doing other things around the house(cooking, working on instruments, feeding animals). My connection is so slow that I can try to open this page then go outside and water my horses come back in the house and the page still isn't fully loaded yet.

I just spent 40 minutes writing out a response and now it's gone, gone, gone.

Sorry the time limit is very necessary and cannot be changed for one person because it would mess things up for everyone else.

Only so many people can be logged in at one time and without the time limit the page would refuse to let people in at all.

Yeah, I lost a couple of messages that way too and I delete cookies regularly. I think it is time related. With all the effort I put into a 30 minute reply, I make it a point to copy the message text to the clipboard before I hit Submit.

That is the perfect way to protect yourself.
Thanks

Next time try these tricks:

Use the Preview Post button often as you collect your thoughts, and just before submitting your reply. That will keep your log on active.

And

If you take too long and the Preview button takes you to log in, go ahead and do it (don't hit the back button or any links). Your post will still be there, with preview. You can continue to edit or now Submit your reply intact.

I have the same problem, but I discovered that if I check the "Remember Me" box next to the place that you enter your login name, that it seems to keep me logged in, even if I leave and come back later.
