Running Slow? Pauses? Try FireFox

There is a basic difference between the way Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox (and other Mozilla versions) render pages.

In just about all cases, I think you'll find Firefox faster. I test the TDPRI on Firefox, IE and Netscape. IE always hangs a bit before opening pages.

It was described to me that Mozilla draws the page from top to bottom as parts are downloaded they are displayed. MS IE likes to wait for all the parts to download before rendering the page. Hence the delay.

I used MS IE for about 7 or 8 years before switching to Firefox and I was very hesitant about doing it. But IE was hanging too badly for me so I gave Firefox a try. I heartily recommend it!

Hi Guys, will my favorites and all automatically be in The new browser? Will IE still be on my machine? I'm not very computer smart on these kinds of things. Thanks.

I read something recently that stated IE, in its efforts to please advertisers, renders video first, pictures next, and text is the last thing to display.

Hi Paul, thanks for the heads up on the new browser. I installed it and it works great. It even imported my bookmarks and cookies, I really like the cookie update feature too.

It cured the problem I was having with my IE browser. If I clicked on a link on any other page acept my home page my computer would freeze up. Can I just delete IE 6? Thanks

You probably can't get rid of IE. Just leave it there. It's built into the OS.

It's very smart about importing bookmarks. It has a lot of new features that you'll sort of bump into.

Oh, sometimes, some plugins will not be there for music and videos. When that happens just look on line they make them easy to find and install.

Paul

I'm strictly Mozilla Firefox. You couldn't pay me to go back to Internet Explorer because of all the spyware and junk popups it attracts.

FireFox flies! I just switched from IE 7.0 because I am tired of dealing with it's sluggish performance and endless security prompts. Thanks for the tip!

Ah, you just wait for Windows Vista then. Imagine an entire operating system just like IE7.

I only use IE if a website requires it. I mostly use Opera and Firefox. I like them both. And yes. this site loads faster on them. At least on my computer.

No you cannot uninstall IE, your finder (thing that you open your folders) is powered by IE or in tandem (pretty sure).
I used FF since its inception, great piece of binary, and with rather frequent updates its far better then IE (didja know that FF 3.0a is already out, it takes some searching to find it)
My question was..."Wait, what pause or sluggish performance? Oh thats right, IE...shudder"
