Private Message Popup

I seem to have an annoying problem with the Private Message popup. Someone sent me a PM, and so when i cam to the main page, I got a popup message. So I clicked on it, read the message, and then deleted it.

But now every time I go back to the main page (like after visiting one of the forums), I still get the PM popup. But when I click on it, I get an invalid message link (because I've deleted the PM).

It's not a huge deal, but it's just annoying because it happens every time I return back to the main page.

Thanks,
Doug

If you are going back to the page the popup first showed up on then naturally you'll get the popup again.

Don't go back. Click on the forum link and you should be free of the popup. This should only be for your current view session. It's not going to follow you from visit to visit.

But when you go "back" you are reloading the previous page, not loading a new page. So naturally you are seeing what existed before -- and that doesn't exist now.

Or, you can simply close your browser completely and come back.

Make sure you have your browser not set up to cache pages either, because if the page is being served from your cache it's just like hitting "back". You don't want your browser to cache these pages because you won't see new posts as they appear.

I find those popups pretty annoying too, though it its nice that they wake me up and catch my attention. Now I just hit cancel, then I click on the "private Messages" link at the top right (where it says Welcome!) and open the message from there. That stops the pops.

You can turn the PM pop ups off in your UserCP.

UserCP > Edit Options > Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions

But be aware that you probably miss many a PM with that setting turned off.
