Why do posts disappear?

Why do some of my posts disapear from the thread I posted in? I had posted my new Kirn Banbuster in the Ron Kirn owners thread in August 2009. I went back to try and find when I had bought it and the post was gone. I then went to my user profile and found the exact date and time I had posted. I went back to the thread and looked at that date range and it wasnt there.

They don't. I'd guess you simply forgot where you put that thread.

I found it in about 15 seconds in the main Tele Forum:

You got your Barnbuster on August 14th, 2009,

I could have sworn I started a thread two days ago title something like "Taking this Vintage thing too far" about a "vintage" light bulb for sale at Home Depot. It evolved (or devolved) into a discussion on CFLs and then rights, and now I cannot find the thread. Not even listed in "threads started by user" Am I dreaming? Did it get too political? That was certainly not my intention.

Oh, yes. There are a handful of people here that can make a ham sandwich a political subject.

PS. I'm closing this now because that handful of people are already thinking about making a political response because in their mind
"I opened the door."
