I think I have a Great Idea!!!

So I don't know if this is possible or not but here goes.

I just got an iPhone 3Gs. Incredible phone and there is so many cool apps...though I just download the free ones for now.

But it just occured to me that the TDPRI could raise some cash by creating an app to sell for say $1 so we TDPRIers can chat, upload photos, or whatever on the run. I know I would use it.

You could take live video from your first gig on your phone and instantly post it to the TDPRI. You could be skeptical of someone selling a vintage tele, so you take some photos and immediately post them for review. Or you could be on layover in a busy airport so you decide to read some threads and boost Chet's post count to take you're mind off the really big guy who took the last 2 seats in your terminal.

Anyway...any thoughts or anyone know what the cost is on a venture like this?

I would do the same. I have a colleague who make apps for the iPhone. I'll ask him for the last of the land on it...

That's impressive...I didn't know cell phones lived that long. I usually get one ever couple years when I'm eligible for a free upgrade. The iPhone was a gift...so why not

What would be even more impressive is if you were still on the original battery

Man, I spend enough of my free time here as it is !
If the TDPRI was on my phone as well (assuming I could work out how to use it) I'd never even get time to eat . . . or play my guitar !!!

I think it's a good idea, since I have an iphone, but the biggest hang-up would be getting approval from Apple. They have to give the ok on any app that is associated with the iphone and, from what I understand, it isn't an easy task.

They have 100,000 apps on the store. It ain't that difficult getting approval. This is the internets you only ever hear the complaints.

And yes, great idea!

There's a web browser on the iPhone, correct? You can do all that you've mentioned using the forum's web interface. Seems like writing an app to do all that would be re-inventing the wheel... am I missing something?

Thread Closed.

Folks, if you have idea's for the TDPRI that's great. I really appreciate it and the enthusiasm you show. But if you have ideas or suggestions you need to contact me about these things directly. Not post your idea and ask for people to chime in.

We have been looking at iPhone apps and have not made any move in this area yet because we are not ready to do so. When and if we are, we will.
