loading pages

Love the site. It seems to take for ever to load pages. Im not a computer geek. Is there something I can do to speed things up? I have a fairly new lap top and good service. I don't have this problem with other sites. Help ! Thanks

  • Safari 4.0.3

or
  • HP laptop
  • Windows XP
  • FireFox 3.5

I have no one else complaining of slow loading pages... and there have been more than 50,000 people stopping by today. Generally, if there's a problem I hear about it from dozens not one person.

I'm Texas. The TDPRI server is in Montreal. If there's a problem I usually see it myelf. I'm guessing you have internet "security" software that is causing your problems. Even many of the new Anti-virus softwares can be set up to scan websites in such a way that they can make loading complex pages very balky. On any TDPRI page there are hundreds and hundreds of links.

It has been years, but there is a Firefox tweak that lets FF load multiple things at once on a page instead of stopping on an image and letting it load before completing the rest of the page... it is especially good for slow connections. Sometimes imageshack or photobucket is slow and slows down the whole page.

Someone may have a link to the FF tweak around here.

I don't doubt that here and there local internet and local computer problems make pages load slow etc.

But, when 80,000 people a day visit a site if it's a problem on our server I get dozens if not hundreds of such reports. Not one here and one there. In fact, last week my cable modem was having serious page load problems. The TDPRI and other sites were loading slow as molasses. But I knew it was my problem and not the TDPRI's problem because I didn't get 50 emails asking me what was wrong with the website.

There's nothing I can do about helping solve problems for folks that have a local problem. In my case, I contacted my ISP and found that I needed to exchange my cable modem for a new model due to some changes the ISP had made to their system.

I've been having some problems, not only here but elsewhere. I just downloaded Firefox and re-installed it, problems seem to have gone away...

I had an issue, seemed isolated to IE. Some digging around in logs and it was a corrupt user profile. I created a new user profile, copied all my data and settings over and lived happily ever after (so far)

Firefox has been hanging up on me, not only here but elsewhere, so I just did some Googling and discovered that there's a problem with some of the extensions not playing nice with the latest version. I just deleted a few (Google toolbar, Yahoo toolbar) and BANG! Works perfectly again...
