TDPRI On Facebook
Here's the deal. I'm almost 60 years old (ugh!) and so, while I'm smart enough to create and operate these websites I'm appearently not very skilled at using Facebook.
Some time ago I created a FB Profile for the TDPRI -- Which I gather that technically I wasn't supposed to do for a website. Profiles are for People. Oops. You can find that TDPRI Profile at http://www.facebook.com/tdpri Then I created a FB Group called TDPRI Members at: http://www.facebook.com/groups/edit....d=108184495542 Now, I've created a TDPRI Fan Page. Which I think is what I wanted to do all along and just finally figured out how: Here's the link to that. I really have a difficult time remembering to do stuff with our Facebook and Twitter pages -- but I'm going to work on it. Thanks! |

Bill my 22 year old daughter thinks I'm "pathetic" when it comes to Facebook. She's right of course. But the interface doesn't make sense to me. I can't even find a way to get from the TDPRI Profile to the TDPRI Members Group to the TDPRI Fan Page without those links in my original post.
Why can't I navigate between the three pages from within any of those three pages? |

Me too. When I first signed up, it was plain and straight forward. Then they improved the interface design (for the attention span of 12 year olds?) and I was confused enough to walk away until they redesigned it again, to a plain but semi convoluted experience.
I joined the Tdpri Place, but didn't know about the TDPRI Members group. It doesn't even show up in the Facebook search But I don't think we need a group to repeat that we're already over here at the forum. The Fan Page is the one we need. I'm in.

You don't have to be almost 60. One of my many bosses recently ruined our Facebook marketing efforts by inviting everyone to be a friend of a profile. He then sent out messages asking people to become a fan and join the group. We probably lost hundreds of people along the way...
My Mother is equally fun. She likes to pop in and drop irritating motherly advice on all of my status updates. I love her... I run the Facebook page for my employer. The interface is so convoluted I can't keep the damn thing straight. We've got 287 fans. My employers feel that it is vitally important for me to spend much of my time updating those 287 people out of our listenership (radio station) of hundreds of thousands. ...And even then, the thing doesn't work. Our own Eryque posted a response to one of my updates earlier, and Facebook lost my reply.

I joined Facebook to make contact with some people from my past (kind of like those school reunion sites) but other than that I find the layout more irritating than usable so I never use it.
However...3 days ago my son's Facebook account was hacked into and a load of cheerful sounding messages were sent to all of his 'friends' which included web links. The messages were things like 'I wonder how much THIS guy got paid?!!'...to encourage you to click the link. Luckily he happened to spot it about 10 minutes after it happened and was able to change his password and notify everyone so they didn't open any of the links. Just letting people know that this happens on Facebook and to beware. I might just cancel my Facebook account... |

I've been a member of facebook for years... I find it easy to use and possibly the best way to keep in touch with old and new friends alike who are all over the world.
Just over a year ago, I created the Brent Mason (with Brent's consent) fanpage and have seen many ammendments to the interface, all I can say is that it is easy to use and easy to maintain. I've also had a Myspace account for ages but I think that is a dog to use and the interface is plain ugly. Once you get used to the layout it's so easy to use. I think Facebook is great, I've had loads of fun and got to speak to some truly wonderful people who I never thought I would ever talk too :o)

Great! Joined them all. If any one of you Tele' lovers wants to add me on Facebook, I won't be offended.

I just recently joined that darn Facebook thing, to keep in connection with some friends who moved abroad - and I hate their interface, too! I like Myspace much better, much easier and more logically constructed, but it seems nobody is using it any more these days...
Going to join the TDPRI-Facebook thingies shortly! |
