Anyone else have 'ad mines' in post text?

For some time, I've had key words in members post text that are in green and underlined with a double line, when the cursor touches one, or moves over one, a small advertisement pops up. It's getting a bit annoying.

Here's a pair screen shots showing what I'm seeing....(the black circles are mine)......

That's what I was thinking.

I only get them on TDPRI.

How do I go about killing this crap?

(And it has nothing to do with member 'nielsnielsniels', thats just an example, 'it' shows up in almost anyone's post in any thread as far as I can tell)

I think those only show up when you're NOT logged in.

Paul mentioned that stuff with recent changes to the layout. It should encourage folks to join, if not he gets some pennies or something for letting the ads in. But we don't have to see them if we're logged in.

It's only when you're not logged in. Paul says it's meant to encourage the lurkers to join.

John, and others, as you would see in the three other threads about this subject here, there are 40% MORE ads that are shown to those not logged in.

We have 33,000 members. About 6,000+ that visit every day. However, search engines send 40,000 people a day here from searching for some specific topic. To earn enough money to pay for multiple servers large enough to handle the volume we show a great many ads to people that just drop by.

And, as you guys have mentioned, we have a notice that encourages people to join so that they can get rid of those much more intrusive ads.

The "in-text" ads are new this month and we're testing them. So far, they've done pretty will and will most likely remain -- for GUESTS ONLY.

Moral of the story? Log in!
