Bad Searches on New Forum Software

With the new format, I cannot find the poster that I search for. Previously (earlier today), I searched for *foo* and I got returns that I could select the exact post of *phoo* from. Now I get the beginning of the thread but have to search from the many (hundreds!) of returns to find the post of interest.

If you posted on the thread, go to Quick Links, then go to Your Profile, then go to Statistics, then click on your posts.

Try this:

1) Click on "Search" in the blue bar above.

2) Choose "Advanced Search" from the drop down box.

3) On the upper right where it says "Search by User Name," fill in the name you're looking for, *foo* or *phoo* or any name you want.

4) Click "Search Now" at the bottom and you'll get ONLY posts made by that user.

Hope it helps, CS

There is zero "new software" on the forum. The Search feature is exactly the same because it is the same. Nothing was changed to the search function.

If it worked yesterday then it works today. ZERO CHANGES.

Maybe I'm crazy but yesterday morning I used Search -> Show Posts and searched for posts by User and got returns that said Posted By User and each one was a link to the post by User. Then after the change, the returns show Posted By the last poster to reply to User's post. I just checked it with my user name and didn't get a single post by me, just responses.

Hmm, that works different than the Search -> Show Posts by returning a link to the top of the thread where the post exists. Then using the browser's search function I find the post. I don't know if this has always worked this way.

I wasn't paying attention but the Search -> Show Posts really seemed like it was returning links directly to the posts yesterday. This was handy since I was quickly finding a bunch of western swing tabs posted by a user.

The difference between the two results you mention above are the differences between you setting the Advanced Search to provide the results as "threads" or as "posts."

I repeat -- NOTHING has been changed with the software of the forum or the search engine. There is new software running the homepage and associated pages ONLY. The design of the Forum's "header" and "footer" is the only change to anything in the forum area.

The search function works (or doesn't work) exactly as before because nothing has been changed.
