Token has expired?

I was trying to post a quick reply and when I tried to submit, I get a "could not post, token has expired" message.

When I used the reply button, I was able to post the reply. Donno what it means but thought you might want to know.

It will happen when you log on but don't change page, post or refresh for a while. A "security ticket" is issued - basically a value that has to match at both end of the connection - and is updated every so often whilst you are logged on - it's an automatic process that happens in the background - and if you remain logged on with no activity your ticket may no longer match the one that the system is expecting to see.

When you the post after a long period of inactivity the system will either update the ticket automatically or it may sometimes instruct you to refresh the page or press the "Back" button in your browser to force an update ticket to be issued.

This is a different problem and it has to do with either corrupted cookies on your browser OR more likely some new internt "security" measure you've taken on your computer.

Something on your end is blocking the reading of cookies in your browser so the TDPRI server cannot keep track of you being logged in.

It happens to AOL users, and people at work behind firewalls, and people that install programs to protect them or at least that's what the programs they install tells them will happen. IN all the above cases it is something you are creating that blocks your browser's cookie exchange with the TDPRI server. It will not get better until you remove whatever it is blocking your browser.

Just in case it's corrupted cookies, you should delete all your browser cookies as a first step.

Your OS will have been updated twice in the last 60 days and your security software will be downloading updated files most days. There have also been a number of other relevent updates in the last month including at least two updates to Firefox and a major update to Java.

I have had the same problem you mention - forums and other sites requiring repeated log-ins - but I've only come across this a couple of times with TDPRI in the last 12 months and it's only when I'm not logged in at the start of the session and then only log-in to reply - the log-in doesn't "stick". I never found a cause but Paul's answer makes sense as it happens to me on different forums using different hosting software.

If it happens again, try using the "Back" button in your browser - in most cases I've found that the post remains intact which saves you having to re-type it. If you are still not sure that it will go through, copy the text before you press OKAY so that you can easily paste it back if you do have a problem. If it's a regular problem and you can't find a cure, try writing your posts in Notepad - or similar - and then paste it into the forum's text box. That way you'll at least avoid having to retype it each time.
