Having problems since the new server

When I click on some of the indexes, for example, right now, I'm trying to get into Bad Dog Cafe, and when I click on it, some gibberish just comes up on the screen....

The garbled stuff on the screen... is it only when the page first loads and you're scrolling down the page? I see that sometimes that the page seems to load a bit slow (photos take 2 sec) completely and if I see the top of the page but pretty much all there, but when I scroll down it just smears the type down the page. But when I stop scrolling it straightens out.

Is this what you are seeing, or is it something else and it stays garbled???

Let me know.
Paul

It Stays Garbled

I have to go out of the site, and then back in and out until I can get a good screen.

Almost (not quite) all the time

I use a PC but had the same problem over the weekend on my wife's Mac.

Sometimes it happens as soon as I log onto the main page. If I click my own name, I am able to use my profile page to get to other forums.

Sometimes it happens when I try to get from the main page to one of the forums.

What appears is plain text at the top of the page that lists in a continuous stream some of the headings that should be on the page if it loaded correctly. It does not ever load correctly if this happens.

Since the change to the new server, it has happened to me on every visit to this web site, either immediately or after I navigate to one or more forums.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I cannot imagine that I am the only one having this problem.

Humm

I only have your complaint and the other TDPer that reported this here. If "everyone" was having this experience I would have a zillion complaints.

So, let's look at other possibilities.

Did you install any "internet security" programs recently?

Check out www.gdpri.com and see if you see the same problem there.

You saw this on your wife's MAC too. So, could it be your internet router? Do you have one? Do you have some firewall settings that could be to blame?

The number one program that causes problems with the TDPRI is Norton Internet Security. Do you have that program?

Do you ever see the AOL warning? The one that says:
AOL USERS YOU MUST USE INTERNET EXPLORER FOR YOUR BROWSER! LOG ON TO AOL THEN LAUNCH IE. A very few users receiving this message have been banned from this forum. Please contact the webmaster or board administrator for more information.

How are you able to respond on this forum if this problem happens all the time?

Please answer all these questions. Go back and make sure you answer them all.

Thanks
Paul

OK, here we go...

No recently installed security programs. I have had McAfee (anti-virus and firewall) since I have been a member of the TDPRI. Never caused a problem before.

No problem on GDPRI but I am not a member and did not log in.

I do not (and will not) use any Norton program.

Ditto for AOL.

I am responding to your post by first signing on to the main page. Got garbage at top of page. I clicked on my name to get to my profile, then used the menu at the bottom of the page to get here.

Dear Webmaster

The same thing has happened to me, exactly as was described above (I am The Bone at my home logon, I am currently Tony at work). When I choose one of the forums (it hasn't been any particular one), I get a pull down menu that says "Jump to a forum" and then the pull down menu has the different forum names on it.

Also, the other thing that happens, is that it shows user names currently on the forum, similar to the way it is layed out when things are working correctly.

In order to get onto the forum on one occassion, (just like the use above mentioned), I simply clicked on one of the user names. Up popped the user names profile, and then I clicked on the "TDPRI Forum Index" in order to get in.

I do not have AOL, and have not had that particular warning.

We are using Windows XP.

Just wanted to confirm

I just got onto the board. When I first selected the TDPRI Index out of "my favorites", it took me to a screen that is white in color, and has some gibberish letters and symbols, and then, several logged on user names, which I then clicked on one, got a personal profile, and then linked into the Forum by clicking on the "TDPRI Forum Index" link. Both of you

Try this.

Clear out your cache (I know folks tell you to do this but really it might be this).

Don't use your "Favorites" to get here. Try just entering www.tdpri.com or better yet, www.telecaster.com.

Let me know what happens.

See when we moved to the new server our IP address changed, but the old server is still there just not active. I'm thinking your computer is getting part of the old server files and when you click on the Link from the old page it's bringing you to the new server.

It's a long shot. But check it out. You two are the only two to point this problem out.

Thanks
Paul Green

Same Problem

Emptied my cache, logged on to telecaster.com...same problem.

Just have to try living with it. Makes navigating this site a major pain, though.

Thanks anyway.

We're working

We're trying to find out why you'd be seeing this. We have a total of 3 people complaining about his problem but have no idea why.

Can you send me a screen capture of the index page showing the problem? Its so hard to descibe what "you're" seeing to my support people when we're not seeing this at all.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Paul, just to confirm

The Bone and Tony are the same people. Tony is at work, and has no problems on his work signon. The Bone is at home and has the problem. Just wanted you to know that perhaps you only have TWO people having this issue!! Tony (aka The Bone).
