Something wrong with search?
I've been noticing some searches not coming up with posts that are recent. I wanted to recall a recent post with the word "rig". I was trying to find the post linked below.
Paint rig The search results found nonthing. I tried to search on my name "Terry", and it didn't return that post linked above, but it has my name in it. I tried some other words, but they only seem to return older posts. Has anyone else noticed this?

The search can't find words with less than 4 letters. Never has been able to.
The search database is over 4 gigs in size. Going from 4 letters to 3 letters would more than double it. At that point the searches done by people would bring down the entire website. You can try to use the Google search... but current posts are less likely to be indexed yet. You can only find the Google Search option on the main Search link on the menu bar. Many large forums disable search for this very reason. I've been spending a lot of time and money on it trying to improve it over the past 6 months. |
