Suggestion: Glossary/Acronym decoder

Just a suggestion:

It would be great for noobs like myself if you provided (perhaps in the "Resources" area) a decoder ring for all of the common abbreviations that fly around the forums. Stuff that is common knowledge to old-hats, but kind of obscure to the new folks.

For instance, it took me 15 minutes to figure out that "MF" was shorthand for "Musician's Friend." Or how about "CIJ:" Is that "Crafted in Japan?"

Anyway, I think you get the idea. such a tool would be very handy!

Thanks.

Whilst the term "IMHO" is pretty standard worldwide, it did take me a month or two of head-scratching to work out what "YMMV" meant!

Would you enlighten me, please? I'm new to this forum, and I still haven't figured out "YMMV."

This is on my very long list of things to do in the future. Unfortunately the list gets longer by the day. But trust that this is on the list.

I'm glad I found this thread. I had most of them figured out but the YMMV one I didn't know until now. Also when I first started on this forum I couldn't understand why so many people were talking about flatulence on a guitar forum. Myself I always just turned up my amp and blamed it on the drummer

That is "NetLingo" for "If I Recall Correctly".

I will add it to my list.

Do you mean PM? As in Private Message? There is no "PO" acronym that I know about.

PS. Check the listing in Resources on the Homepage and you'll see the new Acronym Decoder.

I think everyone left out NGD which took me awhile to figure out. New Guitar/ Gear Day?

Would someone please expand on NOS. Does it mean guitars made from old/new stuff sitting in a warehouse. Don't laugh if I'm wrong just straighten me out. Thanks.

NOS is "New Old Stock" -- an guitar that's not been sold before, but is nonetheless an old model.

OP is "original poster" as in the original poster in a thread. Drewsblues is the OP of this thread.

Meh isn't an acronym. It's a sound people make when they see or hear something they don't care for.
