Search doesn't work well?

I've been having limited sucess with the search function. For example, if I go to the amp forum, and search for "Vox", I get no results. There must be a million posts with the word "Vox" in the subject or body. It's not just that one example, but many words come up blank that should have lots of results. Is this a known issue? I'd use the search function to see if this has been covered before, but...

Use Advanced search on Google.

1. Go to Google
2. Hit advanced search
3. Type Vox (or whatever) in the search field.
4. Where it says "Search within a site or domain:" enter http://www.tdpri.com
5. Amaze your friends with your awesome new found innerwebs prowess.

The reason that 3 letter words are not in the Search function is because to include 3 letter words increases the size of the search table to such a degree that it massively slows down the entire server for ALL functions, not just search.

I may be obtuse, but would it help TDPRI at an engine level to just send ALL search traffic through Google's advanced search engine? Not saying it's simple, practical, or even worth considering, just throwing out a random thought.

Yes, but I just spent nearly $1000 on improving the search engine we have and it is improved greatly. It still doesn't include 3 letter or smaller words though.

Nuff said. If "improving search engine" includes minimizing the impact on overall performance, I have to say good work, because the site is more responsive than I recall in my short time here.
