ebay link problem
This happens occasionally, not all the time. If someone posts a link to an ebay sale, I get sent to the ebay home page instead of the actual link. It just happened recently with a couple of links that Ole Fuzzy posted. It happens to me on other sites also. Not all the time, just sometimes. Anybody got any ideas????

Sounds like a problem on your system... not on other peoples though. You didn't mention which posts with links to Ebay from Fuzzy (which would always be helpful when posting a problem like this) but I know of a most recent post that Fuzzy posted two Ebay links and both of those bring up the exact page as linked.
Give me an example of what link doesn't work for you. Also, what is your browser, browser version and what kind of computer (PC or Mac). Thanks Paul |

Paul, it was the most recent post from Fuzzy that I was talking about and I'm sure it is my system but I was hoping you or someone else could help me figure out what was wrong. When I access from work, like I am now, I don't have any problem. My system at home is very similar to what I'm using at work. PC, using IE version 6 as a browser. Also, if I use my laptop at home, I don't have the same problem so that's what makes me sure it is something in my desktop that's screwing things up. Like I said, it isn't just the TDPRI where I have the problem, it's happened on other sites too. I guess the most perplexing thing is that it doesn't always happen, sometimes links work just fine.

right click
All I can suggest is that you right click your mouse on both links that work and links that don't, select "Properties" and see what each say. You should see the URL of each link. Maybe then you can see what's missing from the links that don't work.
My guess, and it's just a guess is that somehow your browser is breaking a long link into two lines and this is breaking the link. That would also explain why some links work... they are not so long as to be broken into two lines. When a link is broken into two lines, physically, only the first line in the link is actually being used. It's only a guess and it's a pretty uneducated guess. Paul |

Thanks for the tips, Paul, I'll give them a try tonight when I get home. I had a suspicion that that was what was wrong; that the string was too long and was somehow being broken up. And, your uneducated guess is much, much better than my educated one....
Thanks again.... |
