Fender's 50's finishes.

Just a question... I am currently working on my first Tele.
It's a Swamp Ash from KnE Guitars... Thanks Mitch!
It is going to have the butterscotch blonde finish (ReRanch nitro color and clear).
Did Fender use a sealer on the bare body before the butterscotch was applied?
I have heard they did NOT put any sealer on for the translucent colors?...

Is nitro, nitro? I just bought a can of satin clear form WATCO and thought I could use this as a sealer????????
Is the WATCO nitro compatible with the ReRanch stuff??
