degloss a neck

i have a peavey T-style. i already sanded down the back of the neck and it feels great. can i also sand down a little the fretboard too? i think its too glossy any special procedures, pitfalls, what to use?

I personally wouldn't mess with the fretboard, but you can use some wet/dry or waterproof 1200/1500 grit sandpaper and dip it in some water with a couple drops of dish soap and lightly wet sand the back of the neck. This will take the shine down and it'll play like butter.
