Minwax red mahogany over wipe on poly

Will this work? i have about 20 coats of minwax wipe on poly on a sugar pine body. If i apply the minwax red mahogany, will it take?

I thought about it too late, im thinking i should have applied it on bare wood or over sealer first.

Ideally id like to put some more wipe on poly over it, enough to give it a nice gloss once its finished.

No, it will just wipe off. You might be able to tint the poly clear to get the same color.

It is almost impossible to wipe on a toner (colored clear coat) and get even coloration.

Your best bet might be to get a spray on toner. Woodcraft stores often have the Mohawk/Behlen products.
