Black finish, Alder body
![]() Let's say I have an alder body, one piece (pic may not be, just a reference) And I want that black fender/generic glossy, no grain visible finish. Could someone list in order, with time between procedures, in detail how to achieve it! :) A rough guide i've gathered so far:- Sand - 140 Grit? Sanding sealer - 2 coats? (time frame?) Sand back? Black Nitro cell lacquer (X coats? Sand?) Clear nitro laquer (X coats? Sand?) Also, when and how do I polish? Thanks guys! |

this is probably the be all end all of rattle can painting for guitars. I have done a bunch, and I always get impatient and abandon the rule of three, but stick with it, I have found that a good finish can make the difference between a build looking good, and looking professional.
