Behlen instrument laquer
anyone use behlen's instrument laquer?
I am in HI and have limited access to finishing stuff. Trying a blonde finish on an ash body, I have used belen vinyl sealer and por-o-pac so far plan on spraying some color then a few coates of instrument laquer. Just wondering if it is clear or has any amber shade to it, also will it allow the color to yellow over time Thanks |

I haven't used the clear. I used one of their shaded lacquers for a sunburst. Sprayed very nicely and leveled really well. I covered it with deft clear. So I can't comment on sanding or polishing. But, I would think you will get a very nice finish.
As far as I know, deft is the only one that will not yellow. |

It is a good lacquer but it is mixed hotter than Deft or Minwax. By hotter, I mean that if you don't follow the schedule of starting out with light coats each application, it can make color coats run or waterslide decals melt. You definitely need to give it at least 3 weeks to a month to evaporate.
