sanding wrinkled clear flat

hello everyone! i used krylon gloss black on my headstock and cleared over it with deft. i know now that theyre not compatable but the wrinkling isnt that bad and seems less after every coat of deft. i was able to flatten out the wrinkles on a taped up part of the neck (where the locknut sits) with the back of my fingernail and the black base doesnt seem to be lifting at all. my question now is, if i let it dry for a good amount of time, could i just sand it flat and still get a good result (after buffing of coarse)? all help is greatly appreciated.

Sanding may bring about a sand-thru of the color. You might get away with it. Maybe put on LOTS of clear to prevent this.
