First time nitro

Just sprayed my first body with clear nitro over several layers of schellac. What next? fine wire wool?, once nitro dry of course. How long should I leave the nitro to harden before wire wool and how many times should I repeat the process? When finished should I then be polishing with cotton buffer wheel?
Should I use polishing soap on the buffer?

Sorry guys sooo many questions.........

Thanks in anticipation.

The usual rule is to leave it as long as possible before buffing. I tend to wait at least a couple of weeks, but I know some people who measure the wait in months :). Not good when you want to get on with it. I know a lot of people suggest lots of spraying, waiting, sanding, spraying, waiting etc - but I've got good results using nitro where I've left it a few weeks after the final coat, gently dry sanding with 1200 grit, and then polishing with a bog standard auto polishing cream. It works for me, but like you I'd be interested in other people's viewpoints on the final finishing (I've a couple of bodies lined up for finishing soon...).

I like to start with the 3 rule 3 coats a day for 3 days I don’t remember where I heard it. I like to start wet sanding after abut 4 coats just trying to keep the finish as level as can while spraying. When I’m finally satisfied with the finish I let it sit for about 3 weeks then wet sand from 600 - 800- 1000 - 1200 – 2000 then it’s the buffer. The thing about finishing I might spray three coats where someone else might spray one or two there is really just a basic process you will find what works for you with experience. The only golden rule patience finishing is all about taking your time especially in your prep.
Myself I don’t like using steel wool (or as you say wire wool I like that) some people prefer it. As far as buffing I use Menzerna compounds on a stationary Buffer 12” wheels.
