Applying a glitter finish to a guitar

Hi all.

I am about to embark on a project where I want to glitter finish a Tele body. My intention is to use spray can clear-coat and simply sprinkle the glitter onto the tacky surface and build up the finish that way.

I have a few questions which I hope you can help me with:

- will that approach work?
- do I need to use special glitter or would even arts/crafts glitter be OK?
- am I crazy to even attempt it? (I realise my taste is certainly called into question!!)

Any tips, tricks, war stories?

Thanks guys.

If you haven't already, check out the Emeraldcaster project over in the build forum.

The basic technique is applying the finish then putting the flake in while the finish is still wet. once it drys you put more finish on top. Is that what you were describing?

Yes there is a ton of information on the Emeraldcaster thread but it is so huge that it needs an index to help people find things.
All the info is there in great detail and with photos.
