PRS SE Standard - matte mahogany

Hi all :)

I was wondering if any of you know what finish was used on the PRS SE Standard model.

TIA ;)

HI there. My first guess would be satin lacquer.

Thanks Matthew, that'd be my guess as well. :)

I wonder if it'd be possible to make it a bit more shiny or even spray other (tinted) coats on top.

Well, this is what I was hoping to get, in terms of look.

It almost look like it has no lacquer, like a The Paul, shows the grain nicely and is a fairly neutral shade of brown.

The two pictures below show what I actually got (no flash / flash).

Satin lacquer, very flat and/or milky looking depending on the angle/light, the grain does not pop-out much, redder tone.

Any suggestion as to how to change the "got" to look like the "hoped-to-get"?
Stripping the lacquer and use some kind of rubbed-in finish?
Go the opposite way and buff the guitar to increase its "shinyness"?

It looks better when wet... ;)

The original finish is quite thin, as you can see I managed to get through to the wood in a couple of places.

I wonder if I'll be able to have it buffed to a shiny finish or if it'll need clear-coating.
