waxing (or other coatings) over Danish Oil?

Hi all...I've got a Squier Affinity Tele that I have stripped down and stained with Watco Danish Oil (Dark Walnut). I've put on quite a few coats, leaving time for the oil to soak in between coats. My question is this: I've seen some threads on here about needing to wax Danish Oil or to use a Wipe-On-Poly or something...is that true? I'd like a shine if possible, but I'm mostly concerned about the wood being protected from sweat and stuff, and for the finish to not wear off with use. Any thoughts? I did a search, but still feel confused after reading the results! If I need a wax, what kind do I use? How do I apply it?

Thanks!
