It's amazing how much Boss reworked the circuit for the OD-3 versus the BD-2. Many other effects companies would simply "recycle" large parts of previous circuits. Boss has always been good about mixing it up, though. The SD-2 and other pedals are all quite different. Even the HM-2 and MT-2 are night and day different.

In Boss's defense, they really have come up with a mountain of effects designs of all types. When it comes to mass production stuff, no one else touches them, IMO. Some are complete duds (Acoustic Simulator :shock:) and others have some big flaws, but they seem to have one of each type of effect that is pretty popular with many users.

11 gauge - why the booster after? Is it purely to get above unity (which the OD-2 can struggle to achieve at certain gain/vol settings)? Or to shape frequencies that are lost/lacking in the OD-2? Both? Something else? Thanks.

I've been playing out alot lately and want something more solid to use as a pedalboard. Also want something less cramped than my current one. I tried cutting back on effects but I really don't want to haha. Ordered a heavy duty ata pedalboard case from road cases usa. 14x28. Very excited!

More of a testimony to the Blues Driver, but also the utility of a stock Tele, but I use my BD-2 (pedal ON all the time, all controls at NOON ) and a clean Blues Jr. (with the amp volume set loud enough so I get a healthy clean rhythm/ clean lead sound with guitar volume knob at say 1/2), I can get nice cleans and a variety of nice sustaining OD tones, just using the Tele's controls. This just seems to work great for any of the music I seem to play (old, and small clubs anyhow...); It has just always seemed more natural and controllable (I guess as far a volume balance) for me to 'roll into OD' than kick on a pedal. For harder rockin' stuff, I will kick on a TS clone as a boost that really gooses all of this...

I like my MXR Dyna-Comp. The look reminds me of pedals from my teen years... I use it infrequently, more like cinnamon than salt. Sometimes I toy with the idea of taking it off the board, but, then I wind up using it again. To answer the question more directly... I use it to knock the edge off, sort of like a presence-reduction knob. When I say presence... I don't mean that high treble control on your amp... more like hiding in the mix... with compression the resulting sound is not so in-your-face.

I love my tone too.

If we had to trade rigs for a night, we'd probably hate it.

Question about Flash Back Delay

Yeah, I've experienced the same glitch with both the Corona and Flashback. Not to mention the times I've turned on the pedals only to hear the dry signal and not the effected signal. Not to mention the switch problems I've had with two Flashback X4 pedals. Not a cool thing to have a pedal malfunction at an event. I guess you can consider it one of the perks of owning one of TC Electronic's Toneprint pedals, but aside from a Mini Polytune currently on my pedalboard, I've just about given up on the brand. I wouldn't touch another one of their pedals even if they were giving them away for free.

That said, I think Korg makes a pretty good piece of kit. I really liked the Shadow-type tones that you could get out of their old Dynamic Echo.
