Ime this works best for the bridge SC pickup and a neck humbucker will cope, especially if it is a cool wind like that one. It just means that the bridge pickup can be set at the just-right height and the neck humbucker can be raised until it sounds nice and juicy.<br />

I must have tried every combination of control values until I got back where I started with this setup. If the tone control won't behave between SC and HB, put a TBX+47nF in there, and it will add some extra brightness (and a little more bass) when you want it.<!-- google_ad_section_end --></div>

</div>This is correct except that I would say nickel silver is somewhat less opaque than brass due its slightly lower eddy current potential, but that only plastic (including the chromed plastic housing Bill Lawrence uses for the Keystone Tele neck pickup) or no housing at all is truly transparent.  BTW, the dulling effect of a metal housing happens regardless whether the housing grounded -- you just hear more hum if it isn't.<!-- google_ad_section_end --></div>

</div>If you don't run a separate ground wire, you're likely to end up with extra noise. You can do a straight swap with strats, as they have no metal baseplate or cover. <br />
