Me!

I played a couple strats and kept bumping into the middle pickup. Turned me off I guess.

PS: I have to confess, I play my Esquire more than my tele .

Jeff Buckley with his cover of Hallelujah. That is the best clean electric guitar tone I've ever heard.

I think I first fell in love with them because my dad had an Esquire and a Tele around when I was growing up. I'd say that Luther Perkins and Steve Cropper are up there on my "inspiration" list when it comes to wanting to have the Tele sound available to me. Keith Richards is probably my favorite guitar player all around, but the fact of the matter is that he didn't use a Tele for most of the Stones' best stuff (IMO, of course). He was mainly a Gibson and Epiphone guy back then.

Don't recall, but I'm sure it was someone on TDPRI... :) All you folks seemed so fond of the Tele that I thought I should try one.

I never thought about it. Clapton gave me the Les Paul itch and Hendrix for the Strat. Maybe that is why I like it so much, I have no preconceptions and I am free to be me. Thanks for the thought provoking post!!

Hmmm I actually can't think of any one player that inspired me. Matt bellamy the vaccines and rage against the machine all helped me realize a tele has a certain cool factor. I think I wanted single coils but a strats are so common (teles not so in the uk)I wanted to be different.

Luther Perkins, Clarence White and Waylon are the three main reasons I'm in the market for my first Telecaster.

Jerry Donahue, Vince Gill, Brent Mason, Albert Lee (who doesn't sound anywhere near as good on his MusicMan).
