I absolutely can't stand that Adam guy.
And I can't make up my mind about his Ring Of Fire rendition.
But the dude can hit some freakin' high notes!
His voice creeps me out, though.
It seems to have no male characteristics to it, like Neil Sedaka's voice.
And he reminds me of some nerd playing a rock star in a high school musical.
I mean, amazing talent, but seems contrived & fake & not for me.
Looking forward to seeing Brad tonight.

I was hoping for a faster BP song to showcase the tele playing, but

Carrie U. singing at the break...simply FANTASTIC...the voice...so pure...almost made me cry.

Priceless.
Yeah, that was awesome.

What about Paula this week telling the blind guy to stop using the piano as a crutch.

No, I didn't watch it. I have never watched it. I see clips occasionally when I watch Keith Olbermann. The show is cringe-worthy, soup to nuts. If I want to see karaoke, I can go to any number of bars, any night of the week.

It is a karaoke contest. Carrie Underwood won a Karaoke contest. Woo bloody hoo.

Call me when they cancel it.

Strong opinions from someone who has never watched it. (Clips don't count.)
Any singer who sings over backing tracks is singing karaoke. What makes the show different from local pubs is seeing the growth (or lack thereof) week after week, and watching how these youngsters deal with the pressure of learning so much material in so short a time, and then perfoming it in front of millions. It's kind of like watching college basketball: amateurs giving it everything to try and reach "the show." Sometimes they hit the three; other times they clang it off the rim. There are some great moments and some bad, but that's why it's a competition and not just a variety show.

Audition.
If you're good enough, you will.

And anyone who says they've never watched the show, but wants to rant about how bad it is has absolutely ZERO credibility.
You can't possibly have an intelligent, informed opinion of anything without seeing it.

I haven't been a Carrie Underwood fan. But she was really good last night.
She finally has a single that's being played on country radio, that's really country...Not that something has to be "country" to be good. But most, if not all of the singles she's released that get the hell played out of them on "country radio" are not country songs.

I do think they got it completely wrong by not giving Michael the boot.
Here's a guy who is perceived as a country singer, who IMO, not only failed miserably, but was the weakest performer of the night in what was supposed to be his element.

I agree 100% with you PapaBeef, I've never been an Underwood fan either, but she blew the roof off last night; what a voice.

Also agree about Michael and Alexis; the voters sent the wrong one home. I still feel that teeny-boppers influence the vote a lot by just voting for the hulkiest guys instead of the best singers. Michael seems like a good guy but doesn't have the pipes that Alexis does.

That Ring of Fire rendition was pretty blasphemous to me, but I have to admit that the guy (Adam?) is a great vocalist. Went from register to register in a pretty amazing way. I think he could go all the way, providing he turns down the "personality" aspect a little, if ya know what I mean...

Brad last night was....well, not so good. I think the song was pretty bad, but I am not a fan of his anyway. He should have played something more upbeat and not bothered to try to push a single. At least let the steel take the break on a ballad.

I was surprised that the red hair girl was in the bottom three. She's the favorite here.
and I agree, the rock / emo guy is just creepy. I am beginning to wonder if he is a eunuch.

You bring up an interesting point. In the 60's through the 80's, artists like the Byrds, Eagles, Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young, etc. were categorized as rock. With the current state of music and top 40, they would be categorized as country and only heard on those radio stations. Underwood would have been classified as pop/top 40 in those days, like Dusty Springfield, Linda Ronstadt, and Bobby Gentry to name a few.

On a side note, that dude Adam is such a poser. He can sing, but he's not all they think he is, especially Paula who acts like a ***** in heat.

I don't have to see much of it to know it's a karaoke contest and as such, I have no interest in it.

Anyone who takes it seriously has a bigger credibility problem, IMO.
