I gotta say, those look mighty nice. Squire doesn't even show them on their website yet!

The 21 fret glossy finish neck and the shiny gold logo are characteristics common with the VM SH/SSH and that haven't been on any other recent production Squier Standard Teles. The VM SH/SSH model is crafted in India.

I wonder if this is a Sam Ash Special Run? Sam Ash did that for a maple fretboard, color coordinated headstock Fat Tele model, starting in 2000 and continuing for a few years.

I don't think its a special Sam Ash run, as I heard about these a few weeks ago from someone on a Squier forum from Australia saying he knew someone who worked at a music store and was told about these by the Fender rep. At the time I thought they might just be an 'overseas only' series, like the California Series that pop up on eBay every now and then, so I didn't say anything about it until I knew it was not an overseas only series.

Wow! That's a sweet looking Telecaster.

If I hadn't just bought a new Tele, one of these would be on the way ASAP.

One of you needs to buy one so that I can read a report on it. I really have a thing for Squier Teles and this one looks like a real winner with its Alnico III pickups, pine body and 50's-style hardware.

Thanks for the link,

Cassady

What a killer deal!

I predict this will be the biggest selling Squier of all time.

If a 50's Classic is a poor mans 52ri then this is a broke mans 50's Classic.

I totally agree and would add that this could also be the basis for a million partscasters. I don't need one but am sure as heck going to get one.

Fender could have made one of these long ago.

Just shows how out of touch Fender marketing is with what the public wants.

Seems like all the cool stuff is MIM MIJ/CIJ or Squier.

Fender USA hasnt made anything Ive wanted in years!

Could be INDIA i played a few squire strats made in India, new for this year i think and they are not bad ,cheap cheap tuners but not bad guitars as a whole.

I keep staring ...

at the pic harder and harder to see if there's grain showing through. Maybe. Sure looks great! If it plays as well as the two Squier's I've got, it would make an excellent gigging guitar.

I really didnt think they would do this......Normal body thickness , trad bridge , maple neck with a skunk stripe. If they are decent , and made in big enough numbers , they could kill the sale no´s for Fender Teles.
Thats just what happened over here when the word got out about the JV Squiers in the early 80´s , they hardly sold any Fenders.

Some of the best guitars ever made are the Squier JV 82 and early 80's Teles and Strats.

I agree 100% if these are even 1/2 way decent they will sell so many they wont be able to fill the dealer orders.

Tuners are easy to change I dont expect the tuners to be any good but with A3 magnet pickups 9.5 radius med jumbo frets and vintage styling its gonna be a huge hit.

When I got my 1st 50's Classic in 1999 they were $800 list now they are $1000 list which makes them $700 street they basicly took a workmans priced guitar and almost made it cost more that its worth. This Squier is $300 street so its less than 1/2 as much as a 50's Classic MIM.

Wonder why Fender marketing wasnt smart enough to make a Pine Body MIM 50's Classic Esquire and Classic model???

Looks like a product to head-off the copies, ie Rondo, Xaviere, Turser. Hopefully, Squier will expand the line into some additional
versions.

Good move! If I'd live in the US, I also would have clicked on the add-to-chart button.
Please report back when you have received the guitar.

Being without an Esquier for more than a year now, my plan is set.

I hope it will be available in Europe ... A 50's inspired pine Telly is the best idea of the year IMO.

Man, Squier is becoming quite a force to be reckoned with. First the Vintage Modified Series and now this?! Very cool. I hope it comes in different colors. I just got a '50s Classic Esquire in the same color.

Soon as they hit Europe, the Fatman will be buying one. Most exciting thing to come out of Fender for YEARS.

Maybe their Marketing Dept. has managed to employ someone with half a brain?..

Sweet looking -

but is it really all that when a MIM Standard Telecaster - with Fender on the headstock and with (as I recall) MIA/vintage bridge pickguard etc compatible proportions - is only $100 more?

I am certain these are not a "Sam Ash Only" item because I was tipped off about these guitars by an Australian on a Squier forum who said he knew someone who works in, or owns(?), an Aussie music store that was told about these guitars by the Fender rep.

Man, I'm gonna have to get one of these! I'm just hoping they expand and add a 60's Vibe model, that would be so sweet; a 50's and a 60's for less than $600!! How cool would that be???

I've got a 50's classic and have been watching out for a Classic 60's, but I'd get these just to add to the collection! WOW!!

If a company like Sam Ash arranged for a Special Run, it would be through Fender and Fender would be making them. So the Fender rep could know about it even if it was a run made for Sam Ash.

I haven't seen this model show up yet at the Musician's Friend, 123Music or Elderly online stores. Has anyone here seen the model anywhere besides Sam Ash?

I too have been thinking about a '60s Tele, and it would be sweet to be able to get one at this price point. Right now Sam Ash is listing this one Tele and a Strat in the Classic Vibe series.
