Can anyone tell where the truss rod adjustment for this model is? I can't quite tell from the picture.

I hear Fatman's points about having to file a few fret ends and replace a nut to get a Squier really up and running. But, I'm a litlle old-school. The tune-up required should be minimal. I remember the Squiers from Mexico and Japan that had decent fret jobs and nuts, sure...pickups weren't great (and I don't mind replacing those), but some of the Squier VMs I've played required a little too much tweaking for my taste. I sure hope these new models, do a bit better on the fit and finish scale than some of the guitars I've played. I always find myself looking at the MexStd, for $100 extra bucks and thinking about the less sweat required.

The real world examples of Squier Teles in Vintage Blonde (507) look a lot more like mine, than either of the first two.
You're right, we have to wait and see the real colour on a pic of the actual guitar.

True dat -

and I am interested in learning more about the dimensions and quality of the body and hardware - is it just a cosmetically upgraded Affinity or something? Is pine plywood a pine body?

as I can't believe Fender is selling what are actually "Classics" for $300 - but with Squier on the headstock - and my wishful thinking won't make it so.

They can't be the same Classics just because the body as a different wood.
But I want to try them out, that's for sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the original Teles were made of pine, no? Sounds pretty classic to me...

Sid, I think you're not giving squier enough credit here. While the affinity series is arguably crap, they do have a standard series which really isn't too far off from fender MIM standard quality. in addition they have models above the standards which usually go for $250-$300 that are better than some fenders. I would assume this vibe series is in that realm. plus you're getting a tinted gloss neck, which i prefer, and I don't know a MIM standard that has that. the pickups sound good on paper, etc. i definitely wouldn't consider this as an "upgraded affinity"

I hadn't planned on buying a Tele today, but I never do.
I'll have one on the way before the day is done!

It will be interesting to see if these are as good as they really look. By the time you throw in a gig bag, and upgrade features, setup will the price point be closer to a MIM?

who says you'll have to upgrade anything? look like they're using different tuners (haven't seen those a squier before). and the pickups may be good; we'll have to see

Let's hope these beauties arrive in Europe pretty soon!
I hope so too, I will keep an eye on this, should I know or hear anything I will communicate.
If other Europeans are of the same interest, keep us posted.

No disagreement here - and nothing at all against Squiers

I know that Squier can make a great guitar for less dough -

its just that looks - particularly on the net - can be deceiving - and if it is as good as it looks - then it "looks" like it would compete head to head with a $600-$700 Classic -

and in that case I would think Fender is crazy - and so I remain skeptical of the quality of these until further info is in hand - as I don't think Fender is crazy - or at least not stupid.

And so I must restrain my excitement until further notice.

And I must say that that white with blackguard and tinted maple necked Telecaster looks beautiful
- in the picture! -

It looks prettier than my very nice MIM Olympic White 60's Classic - and therein is the source of my skepticism.

well i don't know that they're necessarily trying to make a direct equivalent to a classic series, but they're going for the same vibe, which it looks like they're doing quite well... in the pictures. damn, i'm starting to sound like a commercial :)

These Pine Squiers are $300 street the MIM Classic is $700. You could do alot of upgrades and still be way under the price if a 50's Classic MIM.

Availability

I placed an order for one a few minutes ago, and during the check out I noticed the status to be "Back Ordered". I called Sam Ash and they said it's brand new and they don't even have it in stock yet. The guy I talked to said it may be after the summer NAMM Show, later this month.

I may end up at the back of the line but I can't pay now/play later, that's backward.

As soon as someone gets their hands on one, they need to chime in here!
