Cheap digital delay pedal broken?

I have recently bought a cheap chinese made digi delay pedal and it only seems to work properly for a few minutes, after this the repeats become distorted and will eventually become extremely quiet. Also when the delay time is turned from the lowest it can go to about 9 o'clock it produces no delay at all and makes a strange whirring sound.

Can anything be done to fix this? And i can't return it by the way else i would.

any help would be appreciated.

Assuming it was purchased new, from a reputable source, I would return it for a refund.

If you can't return it....use it as a philosophical reminder that "cheap" is not the same as "inexpensive"

I don't want to point out the obvious but have you swapped out the battery? Sounds like low power. This is one of the reasons I buy my pedals with any logic in them. Almost imposable to troubleshoot them with out a bunch of equipment and knowledge of that exact circuit. I build most everything else. Good luck.
