Pedals Again...

Hello all, I've been viewing TDPRI for the last couple years when I get the chance. A lot of good people here, especially the Stomp Box and Burnt Fingers forums to name a couple. Finally, I have decided to join. I've got a lot of background in music, guitars, amps and effects and look forward to sharing with others.

Now the serious part:

I have not fixed, built or modded a pedal or tube amp in almost 20 years. It was tough to quit but I had to do it. After reading many of your threads I'm feeling the urge to "fall off the wagon".

Keep threading all...

It's the "Mojo" factor that has lured me back. Some of you guys are replacing up to a couple dozen parts in a pedal ~ex. Boss SD-1. Back in the day the big craze was to replace the i.c. and a couple resistors in a ts-9 to make it sound like an original 808. No big deal and many people bought into this and some are big names in the business now. As many as I converted none really had the same sound as an 808 just a different sound than a stock ts-9. All believed our beloved "original" 4558's held all the mojo. Ya know, the shiney ones that I used to sell on ebay for 15~20 bucks a pop.

So here I go ~ back to the bench. First project SD-1 to FD-2 as perscribed by 11 Gauge a while back. Only with a couple really subtle variations. That man has truly inspired me to have a little fun with pedals again.

Thanks for the note....

I used to think the same about the Op amp chips, till I heard a bunch of people on the other side of that fence. Then I watched this video..

The fact that you joined up partly as a result of Burnt Fingers and Stompbox parts of the forum means that you not only fell off the wagon but are also now under the wheels as well.

Info on DIY pedals and amps is quite plentiful now as compared to years ago.
Parts, schematics, kits and help are all quite plentiful now.

Welcome to the forum.

Yep, under the wheels fer sure. I've got some time now along with an intense curiosity. I thought I was obsessively driven back in the day but you guys put me to shame. I love it...

I watched that video a while back. No offense ment but I was unable to gain anything useful other that what I realized a long time ago. "Tone is in the ears of the beholder".

It took me along time to ween myself from pedals and fender amps and just buy a good amp. The only pedal I use currently (very sparingly) is a zendrive.

Thanks..
