Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe Mods?
Hey Everyone:
Well, I just got a used Micro Vibe, and it's a funny pedal. I really like its sound, though it took a bit of tweaking of the internal pot to get it there. Its got its own EQ, which is quite dark. Anyway, the thing I do not like is that there is a significant volume drop when I kick it on. I've found a site, Griffin Effects, which sells a mod kit which claims to take care of the volume drop, as well as add fullness (and provide a switch to turn it into a trem...not sure I need that), but I'm wondering if you all know any tricks or tips. Besides, of course, sell the pedal and by a Soul Vibe. |

Strange, mine doesn't have a volume drop.
But then I've NEVER touched a thing inside. Voodoo Labs makes it clear that the doo-hickey inside should NOT be adjusted. They are set where they need to be before they leave the factory. |

Hmmmm...I've been reading around the net, and some people say their boxes drop, some say they boost, some say it's just fine. I've heard stories of folks going to a shop and sorting through micro vibe units for the good ones, but these are all stories, and I'm not sure how true they are.
I didn't know you weren't supposed to adjust the trimpot...on the Voodoo Labs forum they actually tell you to adjust it to find the tone you like. I'll try the mods and report back. |

said to leave it alone. I have a strong suspicion that many, if not all of those Griffin mods are highjacked from somewhere else. If I developed and sold my own mods, I'd be giving them a careful look.... |

Yeah, I'm a little leery about the Griffin Mods, for some reason. But it looks like they post over on TGP.... The increased speed mod seems to be pretty much out in the public domain...but I haven;t seen any discussion of a volume boost mod. Maybe I should just get rid of the pedal and check out the soul vibe....But this pedal is almost awesome....

I used to have a Microvibe. It had a pretty convincing vibe sound that I enjoyed but every time I stomped it off I was surprised at how much tone suckage it had. The clean signal was always richer, sweeter and better than the effect!

Hate to resurrect an old thread...I tried the mircrovibe in the store, no volume drop. They gave me a new one in the box: that microvibe dropped volume. I couldn't find the receipt to take it back so I emailed Voo Doo Labs to see if that was normal, the emailed me back right away, and were great. They said it shouldn't do that, and gave me an RA number to send it back. Still waiting to get it back so jury's out on vol. drop but they get an A+ for customer service from me!

Since it's already resurrected... :)
Wampler has three mods in his book. They are: Replace 3.3k in R2 with Jumper to add fullness and increase speed potential Replace 47k in R8 with 39k to increase volume Replace 47k in R15 with 33k to give tremolo instead of rotating speaker |
