Help with a one knob clean boost build

i need one that wont affect my signal that solely adjust the volume it will be in a effects loop im building with one other pedal that is just too loud so i actually want to use it to make it a take quiieter. So its more of a colume decrease. My od-3 does the trick with no gain but i want to just build a simple pedal for this

where should i look i wanna do it toally from scratch but with a ready to soter( how ever u spell it) board

MOSFET clean boost:
http://www.muzique.com/schem/mosfet.htm

I built one and it is a great clean boost. It has a flat frequency response and a decent amount of volume boost.

My MOSFET clean boost is the one with the white chicken head knob 4th from the left:

I think a one-12AX7 booster would be cool.

I've also been really digging the BYOC Confidence Booster. It'll run you $15, and if you add in an LED, an extra resistor, a new pot, a knob, and an enclosure from pedalpartsplus.com, you'll end up with a nice booster for about $25 all told. Check out the BYOC forum for schematics on how to build the Confidence Boost into an enclosure.

I've got a few enclosures laying around (as well as LEDs and pots)... I might have to pick up one of these kits!! Awesome deal.

Yeah, I've been really liking it. I run it after my Big Muff, and it really helps tighten the fuzz. And with the neck pickup, playing clean, I think the tone is gorgeous. I'm a big fan!

Guys, SLOWLY read again what the OP is looking for - he's actually NOT looking for a booster, but something to decrease volume - a "minus-booster", basically, a footswitchable volume pot.
You'll just need a 3PDT footswitch, a pot (500k or 1M log), jacks, wire, and a few resistors; here's a diagram how to put it all together:

You could leave out the "treble bleed" circuit on the pot (the 1.2nF cap and resistor in series), and if you don't need a status LED, you colud just use a dpdt footswitch, and leave out everything but the wires going to the pot and to the jacks...

Yeah, that would work, or you could just get a DPDT footswitch instead of the 3PDT shown in the picture - that one would cost less; a DPDT has 6 contacts in (2 rows of 3), you'd just leave out the right vertical row of the 3 rows of contact on the 3PDT shown above, that's the one all the LED and battery stuff is connected to (which you'd also leave out).

Did a quick'n'dirty photo edit, to show how you would wire everything with a 2PDT footwswitch (and without that treble bleed circuit, which is not necessary IMHO) - also note that you won't need a stereo jack for the input if you don't use a battery & LED - a mono jack will be OK.

Good looking out RomanS!!

My reading comprehension skills aren't what they should be

That resistor is in there to prevent popping noises when switching - just get a 1M (= megaohm) metal-film resistor (rated for 0.25W, 0.6W or 1W - whatever you can find at your store, the voltage rating isn't important).

Yeah, the wattage doesn't matter in a pedal, there's not a lot of power coming from guitar pickups...

BTW, say "Hi" to Storke Tower for me when you pass by - I spent a year in the 90s in your hometown, as a student at UCSB!
