Ruetz Rat - Clip or desolder?

Does anyone know if the Ruetz mod can be accomplished desoldering? Or does must it be clipped?

If you heat the lead, you can pull it up. If you don't like it, you should pull the board to reheat from the bottom to reverse the mod. Clipping the lead works, but you'd have to bridge the solder on the small leads that are left to reverse it. I think 'clipping the lead' was just a testament to how easy the mod can be, but I'd desolder it.

Excellent, thank you so much!

Which leg?

How do you know which leg to remove? I'm super new to this, sorry.

Don't clip or pull it - put a trimpot in it's place. You can then "tune" the clipped frequency while playing through it, and get more of a customized tone that works personally for you (AND adjust the gain). I think that this is called the "Lube" mod, if you google around. Ruetz may have even added it on his webpage.

Either one will disable it - it doesn't matter.

I would not heat the lead from the topside - too much heat can damage the pcb traces (lift them or tear them). If desoldering, pull the board, use desoldering braid, and only put the iron on there as shortly as possible. If you reinstall the resistor, make sure that you don't have to use any force to get it back in. The holes should be completely clear and unobstructed.
