played one at guitar emporium the other day. very cool basses.

really cool... but do the knobs and whistles do the same thing as a jaguar guitar? I really think that's overkill on such an instrument...

No, the deal on the Jaguar bass is that it can be operated either passive or active, and one set of controls is for the preamp for the active side...
