Stock neck shim on '83 Jazz Bass (??)
I bought an used '83 USA Jazz Bass about 15 years ago and never had a need to take the neck off. All my neck adjustments were made by taking off the pickguard. Well, I decided to take the neck off and do some cleaning...makes the bass sound better. ;)
I noticed a very thin piece of material that may be a shim. Did Fender put these in as final adjustments? twangchief

I've seen alot of manufacturers across the board use factory shims on both basses & guitars. A much more cost effective option than rematching the body with a different neck (or visa versa).
