Neck radius on PB

How can I determine the radius of the neck on my PB? If is it 7.5" or 9.5"? What should I measure? Answers or points to the site or thread are welcome. P.s.: I do know nothing about C, D, V shape or 7.5", 7.9" radius.

This is from the Warmoth site. There's more info there if you look through the guitar neck section.

Fuzzy has some good graphics explaining this, maybe he'll weigh in.

Basses are more typically 9"-12", I think.

You can make yourself test gauges out of cardstock using a compass.

Just set the compass at various radius (7.5",9.5", etc.), draw an arc onto a piece thin cardstock, cut it out & hold it over your fingerboard until you find the right one.

Back shapes are on the Warmoth site too, but try a search around here as it's been discussed before.

Maybe I should have added that the "radius" is regarding the fingerboard curvature. The backshape is well...... the shape of the back of the neck.

Thanks a lot. That's the info I was searching for. It took a life to know everything I want to know.

Fender basses have the same fretboard radii as Fender guitars. Most modern ones are 9.5 in, vintage and most vintage reissues are 7.25 in.
