Flatwounds on bass

Ever tried 'em? Now (one of) you can, for free!

Sorry for the cryptic thread title but since the new software shows the newest ten threads on the front page, I figured the non-bass players would ignore this and the faithful bottom dwellers would read this and one of you will actually use these strings, rather than trade 'em to your bass player for a beer.

They're D'addario Chromes, the .050 - .105 set here:

http://www.daddario.com/DADProdDetai...D=3&Class=ACDA

I bought them probably a year ago. I knew they were the wrong gauge for me but I bought them anyway since GC didn't have the lighter gauge I prefer. Well, I got so far as starting to tear open the plastic bag the strings are in before I stopped and decided to get the right gauge.

So the hermetically sealed, vacuum packed, NASA technology ultra-recycleable mystery bag has been opened and they've been exposed to maybe a year's worth of air (gasp!) but other than that they are new, still rolled up in the bag.

PM me if you want 'em. I'll post again here when we have a winner.

These are sweet strings folks. Higher tension than TIJF's. Perfect for your Rocco style finger funk lines or walking blues lines for that matter. A wonderful string on a J, ASAT, L2K or a P for that matter. I've got one bass strung with them at the moment and an un-opended set of the shelf so I'm not in need. Take advantage of that very generous offer.

We have a winner. (sorry Tom P., not you)

I wish I had enough for all who replied.

4mal, they also work great on acoustic bass guitars! They get rid of that zingy acoustic guitar sound that phospor bronze bass strings have and make an ABG sound deeper (though not louder, unfortunately).

Oh, and for what it's worth, I figured out that the "ten newest messages" shown on the new front page are only from the Telecaster section of the forum, not all sections.

Got those same strings on my Ric and they're great. Too thick for the nut slots, but great nonetheless. The blue silk wrapping at the end matches the color of my bass, even.
