1960 Jazz Bass- utterly gorgeous (used on The Wall)

Had the utter priv of playing this last week.

It's a 1960 Stack Knob Jazz Bass.... ;-)

It has simply the thinnest and fastest neck ever....even my hamfisted bass playing sounds good on it

Some of you may know the actual guitar as it's got a bit of provenance.

Lovely but are those are "Strap Locs" on a Vintage guitar that's worth $30-40K ? Please don't tell me it's so.

Can you tell I'm jealous
Wish I could my hands on her.

Joe Osborn made a good living using one of these. He had been using a P but just before the Ricky Nelson Australian tour Fender presented him with a new J. He thought it a bit odd that he was not given another P but after stringing it with a set of flats it was his bass of choice for the next twenty years including his live work @ the Whiskey with Johnny Rivers and many many top 40 hits as a part of the Wrecking Crew. Late in his career he went to Nashville and played on 52 #1 country songs. A man & his bass if ever there was one. Take care. Bob

A wonderful bass!

A shame (for a Fender fetishist like me) that some parts have been removed (for modern playing and sound). Not only the covers but also the four "single string mutes" ...

But that's just "moaning on a high level" ...

What remains is a 52 y.o. Fender bass!

Maybe "The Wall" has something to do with Pink Floyd.

My assumption is that (used on The Wall) means that is was used, or played, on The Wall, as in the bass that was used to record The Wall. But I don't know so much about Pink Floyd and the gear they used, so I'm only going by what the OP seems to be saying.

TBird that was my interpretation as well. I guess I misinterpreted your question psychetelec. Sorry, no offense intended. Take care. Bob

Gilmour played bass on several songs from The Wall, so I would assume this is what he used (except for "Hey You" obviously). The tone from the Guy Pratt video sounds an awful lot like the bass tone in "Young Lust," where Gilmour played the bassline.

Well, I guess an assumption from a fellow forum member is the best answer I can hope for. I don't get why someone would start a thread, then never return.

And as they say on Shark Tank, "I'm out".
