Anybody tried the Carvin J99 Jazz Bass pickups?

I like everything else Carvin that I have, which is a ton of stuff. I'm thinking about trying these, but I can't find a good sound sample to check out. Everybody playing them on their website is slapping and such, with rinky tinky mosquito slap tones. Nobody playing any real bass.

I'm just curious how these compare to say, stock MIA Standard Fender pickups, which I love the sound of. If they are similar, I'll give 'em a shot. If they are really as bright and tinny as Carvin's slap-happy lead bass endorsers would have me believe, then I'll pass.

Seems to me though, that an Alnico V J bass pickup that's between 8K and 9K ought to be pretty much on par with a Fender pickup. No?
