Converted a short-scale 4-string into a Bass VI.

Converted a lefty short-scale 4-string into Bass VI.

Got the inspiration for the tuner layout from this old Teisco 6-string bass.

YOU da Man!!
6 stringer on-the-cheap!

E-E tuning??
What gauge of strings?

I have my eyes set on a $200 Dean 24 fret short scale, to convert to 6'er

Had its first gig on Saturday. About 4 times a year we do a special show with a full orchestra, used the new 6-string on the appropriate Beatles tunes. Was perfect!

The La Bellas are new to me-- thanx for the heads up

Do the low E and A make full contact at the bottom of the string, the saddles seem narrow there?

If you dig flats, check these. I have them on my Gretsch Bass VI, they're sweet but expensive.

I don't understand the question but everything works perfectly.

Clarification:

how well do the low E and A rest on the saddle? It sounds like you didn't have to do anything there.

Folks,

heed the budget call what this resourceful gentleman did to create the wonderful bass VI.
Whether you're 'tic-tac'ing' or doing chet style playing on a VI, they open up a whole other world!!

The bass string tree isn't lined up with the strings anymore, and juts the two strings under it off to a weird angle, no biggie, doesn't affect performance, but I'm just not digging how it looks, so I've ordered a couple guitar string trees. Pics when I install 'em.
