American Standard P Bass and Vintage Reissue?
Newbie question. What's the difference (other than the price) between the Fender American Standard Precision Bass and the Fender Vintage Reissue Precision Bass...either '57 or '62? For the life of me...I can't tell, except for the fact that one comes with the vintage case. Thanks for the help.

Am Std: modern features (lightweight tuners, neck shape+radius, pickups/circuitry, bridge[dual load] finish [urethane?] and case)
Am Dlx: modern features on steroids (fancier pickups/circuitry, contoured heel?) Am Vintage: vintage spec (nitro finish, vint neck radius + shape, vintage longstem reverse wind tuners, vintage bridge + pickups, pickup/bridge covers and tugbar) Any questions? The specs pages for these models on Fender's site will elaborate and I'm sure I missed some too. |

Thanks, The George. From what I was observing, everything seemed pretty similar. I also found out that the Deluxe has two pickups instead of just the one split pickup.
I'm looking real seriously at the American Vintage. Thanks again for the clarification. |

Both the AV and the standard are fantastic instruments. I don't have much hands-on with the current deluxes. The standard can do everything the vintage does, the vintage just does it classier.
