Aerodyne - Volume
Our bass player was complaining this past week about his Aerodyne bass, which he swears is the "best" bass that he has ever played.
He says that the second string from the bottom, the D string, at the 7th fret, when it is played, is much louder than other notes played on that string on different frets of course, and it is louder than the other strings being played on the 7th fret. He plays a Fender Aerodyne . . . Rotowound strings, and plays it through a an old bassman or a GK 400 RSB. He says it does it with both amps. Also says his fretless Fender JB doesn't do it in either amp. Ideas? Psychological??? |

That particular bass just really resonates at that A note. Could be worse- on some basses, some notes are dead instead of louder.
About the only way to fix it is to try changing string guages or changing the mass of the headstock, though that may just change which note is loudest. But it's a normal problem with wood basses.
